I’m a calligraphy-envying, font-loving, script font junkie. I use script fonts in almost all of my designs. They’re gorgeous and feminine and I can’t think of a reason not to. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on fonts in the last few years, and of course I have my favorite paid go-tos, but at the end of the day, I almost always end up using a free font.
It used to be that calligraphy fonts (the hand-written fonts with the thin and thick transitions) were almost always really expensive. You could find a decent script font that wasn’t calligraphic, but those are kind of meh. Now, there are hundreds of fun calligraphy fonts available for free or really cheap. My favorite font resource is Dafont. They upload new fonts every day, and it seems like the newer the font, the more fabulous it is!
There are so many amazing letterers out there sharing their work with us (did I mention that they offer their beautiful letters FOR FREE?!) and their work has enhanced my work time and time again. I’ve done a round up of my favorite script fonts for that you can use in your designs, too!
